There is no denying the advances in technology are moving at breakneck speed. Digital disruption is occurring in several industries, including sports. In the online Certificate in Sports Technology and Innovation, students learn the fundamentals of the sports tech and innovation industry. In the required course, Foundations of Digital Disruption, students will learn how quickly the digital world is evolving and its impact on the sports industry. Elective courses dive further into key concepts like blockchain, esports, analytics, and immersive media.

This certificate is designed to enhance knowledge and learning for professionals who are aiming to deepen their understanding of the application of new technology and immersive media that emerge in sport.
The certificate requires completion of 4 courses, and the tuition for each course is $1,500*. There is a 10% discount if you declare this certificate. (*Based on course prices for AY 24-25, subject to change.)
Students have up to two years to complete the certificate. Students can enroll in one course at a time, or enroll in courses simultaneously. Courses must be completed by the end date of the semester. It is recommended to complete the required core course first.
To obtain the certificate, students must complete 4 courses with an overall “B” average: Foundations of Digital Disruption (required) and your choice of 3 sports technology electives.
Courses are online asynchronous where students review recorded lectures and complete a quiz at the end of each module, and other assignments per course syllabi.

It’s preferable if you do, but you can still declare candidacy even after taking a course. Declaring candidacy does not commit you to completing it, but you will receive a 10% discount on future NYU SPS continuing education courses.
Assuming the course is part of the certificate, yes, but only if the course was taken within an acceptable time frame. The academic department gives students a specific amount of time to complete a certificate. The start date would be adjusted to the first class to which we applied the discount.
Yes, if a student declares candidacy for a certificate and achieves an average overall grade of B or higher in courses counting toward the certificate, they will be awarded a certificate badge upon completion, which will be shareable on their resume and LinkedIn profile.
No, continuing education courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid.
Most continuing education programs do not count as credit toward a degree.
